I was absolutely delighted to receive my IJF 7th Dan certificate from Joyce Heron, BJA Head of Technical & Education.

Having worked alongside Joyce for many years through the Development and ongoing implementation of the BJA Coach Education programme, I felt that she was the perfect person to present this accolade, and I couldn’t be more thrilled.

It’s been one hell of a journey. This grade represents a truly significant milestone — recognised not only by British Judo, but also by the International Judo Federation itself. Fifty‑five years in the making, this honour means the world to me, and I’m immensely proud to have reached this point in my judo life.

My heartfelt thanks go to everyone who has supported, challenged, encouraged, and believed in me along the way. There are far too many to name individually, but you know who you are — and I am deeply grateful. One very special mention however to my long suffering good lady wife - thank you Jean, without your support this would never have happened.
